Okay, this is my final submission of 'Mistletoe' (really!)

I should have known I would do last minute changes. I thought I'd put in a bit more shading and more of a holiday colored background.

Awesome entries everyone! The crafted ones were particularly cool

wow now i am really late.... But still on time according to the internet clock. I had some troubles with the limitations of a free wordpress blog and had to change some things last minute because of that...

Anyway here is my entry:

I made a set of three pictures (the belong together, therefore i consider them one entry) illustrating what wintersday in guildwars means to me and what i most like about it : Snowball fights, Gwen <3 Keiran and Polar Bear Farming

I combined them into a pdf as i wanted it to look like a children's book (i wanted to try something like that for a long time and this seemed like the perfect opportunity!)

Here is the link to the pdf: http://surassketchblog.files.wordpre...rsdayfinal.pdf
For some unknown reason the pdf starts on the last page for me, probably for you as well - so please start with the first page !

Since the pdf makes the images rather blurry i uploaded them seperately on my process blog post:

Finally i wanna say thanks to you guys, you really helped me to steer in the right direction and i ended up being very happy with the result. And lot of thanks to obastable for your help !

Entry

Edit: Putting entry tag in ^^;
Also uploading photos of bear prototypes and bottle molds, and organizing photos in album atm

Edit 2: Nuuu why was tag not showing >_<

Anyway, little bit about my work:

As stated somewhere else, the idea originally came from what I initially planned for the past Halloween Art Contest, where I planned to make a miniature version of a ToT bag. Since I couldn't make the deadline for various reasons, I decided to recycle the idea for this contest.

I decided to go with the Wintersday Present over Gift simply because I liked the color scheme of the wrapping. The shape is a little different from the actual picture of the Wintersday Present, because I'm going to be using the box for storing the little trinkets and the shape that I made is easier to handle.

The funnest part of this whole project was the Sculpey clay bit, especially the eggnog jugs. Clay is just so fun ! The Jingle Cub, while it is cute and fluffy, made a lot of fibrous mess with its furry fabric and poly stuffings, which caused me countless sneezes and furballs in my mouth (yuck!). This easily made the Jingle Cub by far the hardest part of the project. Starting the schematic from scratch, the cub went through multiple versions and alterations; the completed piece isn't exactly the same as the final version of the schematic in the gallery either, so be careful if you are planning to use the schematic.

A keen individual might have noticed at this point that the cub got some haircut. Without the haircut, the cub's face was a bit hard to see. The haircut also made it more bear-y looking than a sheepdog or something.

@Sura: np & yw! Your pics are awesome!

@Satomz: It's so FUZZY!

@Gemini: Finished or not, your shading is pretty damned awesome. I look forward to seeing the finished piece someday.

@Overlord: I really dig the subject, it makes me giggle a bit inside. The wings look great, and you your metallic sheen on Dwayna's armor is real keen.

@Morag: I would put that in my home any day. It's just plain beautiful.

@DBA: Ice ice baby ... woot! Looks much better! Holy crap it took 3 minutes to load your finished piece (I has slow internets), but it was worth the wait, it looks great!

@Bakterwal: Mwehehehe yellow snow, totally dig the up-to-no-good vibe!

@Qing: This is much much improved. You chose a tough position to draw, and in the end it came out quite nicely. Their armors are lovely, too, and the pic has a very warm glowy feel to it.

@Rahtschini: Adorable & very soft and cuddly looking. Very well done!

@Muzai: Shading really helped fix this one up, it looks a bazillion times better than your earlier posts. I really love the sheen on her skin, too.

@BadDrizztfan: Totally love the "oh shit ..." feel of this, it's just wild and raw. One of my favs!

@Dalili: I dunno, I haven't been able to stream the video yet, but I'm sure it's awesome!

@Tee Wrex: I WANT IT SOOOO BADLY!

@Ferocious Thanatos: EPIC LULZ - Words cannot express how absolutely funny that pic is, in all of the right ways. Priceless expression and possibly one of my fav. subjects in this entire game ... Thong-butt Gaki!

@Kiya: Totally love the plushie, and your mini polar bears are just too cute.

@Marsh: Snowglobe is one of the cutest things I've ever seen, along with your polar bears, but I think my fav. part of your pic is Grenth ... he's just so adorable I wanna hug him!

I'm sure I missed some, but I gotta GOOOOOOOO and will check back later.

This is my final entry!

Here is my progress gallery:

I decided against painting on it... because I suck at painting. Hope you guys like it anyway!

Thank you obastable! ^^ I put the warning up there for a reason I was going to compress it, but when I did that last night it really ruined the texture of the canvas (in the picture, of course. not the actual canvas ;p) so decided to leave it in all its fine glory.

@ Death By An Arrow: Just in a nick of time
@ obastable: Very fuzzy and soft to touch, and it's a shame I can't exactly transmit the fuzziness over the net.

I'm not sure how I'm going to pick only 4 people out to vote for People's Award with so many awesome works AND people... Will be mulling over this for a few days, but I'm literally like this right now ->

@ Baktwerel. As long as it is in your progress gallery it is. The "This is my entry" pic is optional.

Edit:
Not sure if you can vote for the "The People's Award!"? I made a list of everyone (I think I got everyone) that posted before the cut off date (no new people posted after it) or were on the judging or donation lists according to the first post. Also added in final picture links where I could but I didn't get to check through the progress gallery links for finished items before I got called into work. Hope this helps a bit. I will try and check over and update again after I get home (unless someone beats me to it)

But I don't have a progress gallery I did not have time to record the creation, I barely finished it before the deadline...

Workshop deadline has officially passed (lol, well, by 4 hours and 15 mins) so time for some judging fun Don't forget to support your favorite artists for "The People's Award!"

Here's the post to vote for "The People's Award." To save myself some work, I won't send you back replies if your ballot is ok (but I'll answer Read receipts if you want them ) and instead add you directly to the raffle list at the bottom of the post

Thanks XD Truth is, seeing the art unfold and artists grow has made all the work completely worth it And, I couldn't ask for more than the little spark of joy I get when we had someone give a donation, offer advice, and stop by to say hi in the workshop

I actually got it! It was a very lovely Christmas card signed by the team! I'll have to post pictures of it later on And yes, that was totally my bad for not noticing how many of our judges were either GW1 or GW2 guru mods XD

So Thistle, pm me to make arrangements!
Aww, you are so sweet, but I must decline since I took the job of host just for the fun {many, many hugs to you} although I can't tell you how much I really appreciate such a super sweet and generous gift offer!

Baktwerel's fine, she posted way early at the start of the workshop

If anyone else is unsure, vote anyway to be on the safe side and I'll let you know if your ballot qualifies. I printed off the posters list when I had announced the deadline, because I'm totally OCD like that XD

Thanks for checking, Koreena!

I know I didn't make the deadline, but I'm posting my work anyway. This piece has taken me about 8h of work in total.

(to avoid massive loading time, I put it in a spoil tag)

I combed through the progress gallery links and divided the ones with finished entries versus those with unfinished entries. Since judging has already started, this would be a very, very good time to check that your entries in the OP is correct! Please, let me know if your final piece is not linked in your progress gallery or if your progress gallery is misdirected!

Also, we had quite a few entries that were finished before Koreena made her gorgeous "This is my entry" tag or stealth updated, so make sure you check all the final entries out! Thanks everyone for making this such a fun workshop to host!

Whoops, looks like I missed the deadline altogether… Probably a good lesson as to why you should make regular updates, not one big one at the end. Ah well.

There are some fantastic entries here, and if I haven’t been as active I should be participating, it’s been a pleasure to lurk in the background and watch all the progress galleries taking shape. Congrats to everyone to managed to get an entry in!
